Are you curious, analytical, and energized by solving complex business challenges? Do you enjoy evaluating risk, building relationships, and making informed decisions? Are you interested in helping businesses navigate environmental exposures and emerging risks?
If so, Liberty Mutual's Environmental Division may be the perfect place to launch your career.
As an Associate Environmental Underwriter, you'll participate in a structured development program designed to build the technical, analytical, and business skills needed for a successful underwriting career. Working alongside experienced environmental underwriters, you'll learn how businesses identify, manage, and mitigate complex environmental risks through specialized insurance solutions.
Environmental liability is one of the most dynamic and evolving areas of risk. From site pollution and contractor environmental liabilities to emergency cleanup exposures and emerging environmental concerns, organizations face challenges that require specialized expertise and innovative risk management solutions. Our Environmental team helps businesses manage both the risks they can see and the risks they can't.
Liberty Mutual's Environmental team provides a comprehensive suite of environmental insurance products backed by expert underwriting, proactive claims support, and specialized services such as crisis management and incident response. We partner with businesses, brokers, and industry professionals to help organizations navigate environmental liabilities while supporting responsible business growth.
Throughout the program, you'll gain exposure to environmental insurance products, underwriting principles, risk assessment, coverage analysis, and customer relationship management. You'll learn how environmental risks impact businesses across a variety of industries and how underwriting decisions balance customer needs, risk selection, and profitable growth objectives.
The Underwriting Development Program combines formal training, mentorship, structured learning, and hands-on underwriting experience starting in June 2027. Through real-world assignments and collaboration with experienced professionals, you'll develop skills in risk evaluation, coverage analysis, financial review, negotiation, and relationship management.
You will learn alongside a cohort of peers, build connections across the business, and receive ongoing coaching to support your growth as an underwriting professional.
