We are seeking a candidate to join our R&D (Research and Development) group, focusing on the development and creation of mapping solutions for risk assessment related to natural catastrophes and climate change impacts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Co-op within our Catastrophe R&D group, you’ll be working closely with senior scientists and engineers on various projects helping with tasks to;

  • Perform data mining and in-depth reviews of research literature, data, and models.
  • Collect, analyze and visualize data, using geospatial, statistical as well as other analytical methods.
  • Develop and maintain interactive maps and spatial databases for natural disaster risk assessment (floods, hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, etc.).

This six-month co-op will challenge you with real-world projects and hands-on training, all while being mentored by leaders and experts in risk management R&D.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • You are an undergraduate or graduate student in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering working towards a degree with a strong academic record and a cumulative 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are detail-oriented and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Course work or experience in geospatial analytics and working with GIS applications (e.g., ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, or QGIS).
  • Course work or experience in programming languages (Python or R).
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You must be available to work full-time from January - July 2026.
  • You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
